Special guests playing Live on 2nd June :
MUNTU VALDO + Full band

After three years playing with Eko Roosevelt’s band, Valdo formed his own group, the Muntu Band, later named Mulema (the heart), and began recording, and performing in concerts. In 2000, Corporation Francaise[clarification needed] organized a national tour in which Valdo performed in 10 Cameroon cities. The same year, Cameroon sound engineer Gilbert Moodio played a recording of a Valdo concert to a French producer; after an audition, Valdo was encouraged to move to France.
On moving to Paris, Valdo lived in Belleville, associated with young musicians, and played in jam sessions and concerts in the bars of Rue Oberkampf and Place Chatelet, either solo or with his group. He also played with Manu Dibango, Alpha Blondy, Ali Farka Touré, Lokua Kanza, Cheick Tidianne Seck, Tony Allen, Rido Bayonne, Etienne Mbappe, Stephane & Lionel Belmondo and Richard Bona.
Valdo released his first album “Gods and Devils – Moiye Na Muititi”, in 2005.[2] Following its release, he toured Africa, Europe and Asia, playing festivals and concert halls including the Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), New Morning (Paris), Womad (Carceres, Charlton Park and Singapore), the Théâtre de la Petite Reine (Tbilisi), The Sage (Newcastle), Festival Plein Sud & Festival Africolor (France), and Fespam (Republic of the Congo).[1]
In 2008, Valdo moved to live and work in London, and in 2010, he was the support act for Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s during the UK tour.

DJ’s on the night: PHIL ASHER (Restless Soul)
One of London’s premier underground tastemaker DJs .
Since his first DJ slot at Delirium in 1991, Phil Asher has slowly built an extensive résumé as an international jock, producer, and integral figure in London’s dance music community. In the late ’90s and early 2000s, Phil Ahser was central in the evolution of broken beat, as a founder of West London’s Co-Op club, and as a prolific artist with countless remixes and numerous recording projects under his belt.
Having started his life in music in a rather unique fashion. As a youngster, he’d sneakily filch some of the records his father would bring home from a record store job and sell them to his schoolmates. Later on, he followed in his father’s footsteps by working at record shops and developed his taste for several styles of music, encompassing jazz, funk, soul, disco, and house. He ventured into DJ’ing in the early ’90s, became part of Slip ‘n’ Slide’s extensive Jazz in the House compilation/mix series, and by the late ’90s, he was into production work and even began hosting a radio program — R Solution with Kirk DeGiorgio and 4hero on London’s Kiss FM. ++ Much much much more :))
